Mercy Home Celebrates 125 Years

After 125 Years, Mercy Home Celebrates and Expands

It’s our 125th year of being a solution for kids crisis. And we’re celebrating all year long—not just here on our web site, but also through a number of public events, activities for our youth, outreach to our alumni, and most of all, expansion of our services to even more people with the opening of our new supportive housing program for AfterCare members and their families.

Made possible by a donation by Chase of an apartment building onChicago’s South Side, the new supportive housing program will offer a safe and stable home for former Mercy Home youth that will foster permanent independence and help them achieve their long-term goals.

This expansion marks the latest chapter in a history of growth and innovation that dates back to 1887 and has made Mercy Home a port in the storm for generations of young people.

We invite you, our faithful friends, to join us in celebrating our past and help us build for our future.

Check this page often for details about exciting anniversary activities that we will hold throughout the year. These include events like a summer family block party and an anniversary Mass in the fall, special features on our web site and facebook page, a wide array of public outreach efforts and media coverage, and much, much more.
