Before arriving at Mercy Home, college was but a distant dream for most of our young people. After suffering repeated disappointments and receiving little academic support or encouragement, too many of our young people felt that higher education was impractical or simply out of reach.
That is why Mercy Home developed Dream, Believe, Achieve!, a comprehensive program to teach our young people what they need to do to get into colleges and trade schools, and to prepare them to take those next steps.
Beginning as early as middle school, Dream, Believe, Achieve! provides Mercy Home’s boys and girls with a variety of focused workshop opportunities and activities ranging from high school basics such as understanding GPAs to essay writing, financing one’s education and strategies for succeeding in college. Through Dream, Believe, Achieve!, our kids tour university campuses, attend college fairs and receive guidance when applying for financial aid and scholarships. Dream, Believe, Achieve! staff also works to involve families through workshops and informational sessions on the college application process.
Dream, Believe, Achieve! makes college real for Mercy Home’s young people—and is critical in motivating them to continue their schooling and envisioning a brighter future.
