You Can Work a Miracle
Today I'd like to tell you about a miracle.
Like many of our kids, Jimmy came from a background of unspeakable horror.
His mother was addicted to drugs. For food, shelter and her daily fix, she depended on an abusive boyfriend. Almost every day, he would punch, kick and taunt Jimmy-while Jimmy's mother watched through a haze of drugs and alcohol.
Finally, Jimmy had enough. A school counselor gave him our address here at Mercy Home, and Jimmy showed up on our doorstep one morning. And that decision saved his life. Shortly after Jimmy came to live at Mercy Home, his mother was killed-by the same boyfriend that used to beat Jimmy every night.
Now, a year later, Jimmy is truly a part of our family. He's looking forward to celebrating Easter here at Mercy Home-and he is truly grateful for his second chance in life.
I hope to have a great Easter holiday for Jimmy and all our kids this year. Of course, they understand that Easter is more than candy and colored eggs-and they know that the blessings God has given them are realized and experienced in many ways.
Mercy Home is a place where God's love is always present. And it's important for a child like Jimmy to feel God's love-and to know that friends like you are helping him realize that love every day.
I pray that you can find it in your heart this Lenten season to share a special gift for kids like Jimmy. Along with your prayers, your generous support is the most precious gift you can give these hurting children.
Please help our kids this Easter with a special gift. And please know that you and your loved ones will remain in our prayers all throughout the Lenten season.
Blessings,
Fr. Scott
P.S. Our kids really depend on you. I'm hoping during this sacred season of reflection, remembrance and sacrifice, you can give something extra for our kids. I want this Easter season to be a special time for Jimmy and every one of our children. Thank you so much.
