The History of Mercy Girls Home
It's hard to believe that it all started with just six girls 20 years ago.
There were girls who were alone, scared and out on the street... girls who had been abused in unthinkable ways... who had nowhere else to go.
At that moment in our history, Mercy Home had been caring for boys for nearly a century. But those girls were just as much in need as any of our boys.
So Father Close opened our hearts to them... and he opened our doors. And Mercy Girls Home was born.
In the two decades since the Girls Home opened, hundreds of girls have been a part of our family here. And it would not have been possible without friends like you.
I want to tell you about the new Computer Learning Center today. Not only because it's extremely important to the girls here... but because I need your help in building it!
Computers and other learning resources are even more important for our girls. You see, due to the terrible and unfortunate home situations many of them have endured, they often reach the Girls Home two, three, even four years behind in school.
It isn't enough that we help girls to put their painful pasts behind them. We have to help give them a future! And I view our Computer Learning Center as a vital new resource that will touch their hearts and inspire their minds.
There is still so much to do. And I'm starting to worry that, if we don't raise $200,000 to start our work very quickly, we may not be able to begin building the new Computer Learning Center on time.
This project is too important to let that happen!
Do you think you could share a special gift to get the Computer Learning Center off to a great start? In addition to funds for the construction, we also need to buy desks, computers, printers, books and more...
...there are so many ways you can make a difference!
In fact, it's such an important event there's going to be a Roll of Honor in our Girls Home, inscribed with the names of every donor who contributes to the new Computer Learning Center.
Please make a gift today to help make sure our new Computer Learning Center can be built. However you choose to give, I will make sure your name is suitably recorded in the Roll of Honor.
You know, there's a reason this place is called Mercy Home. It really is a home-and you are part of the family. And just as parents and grandparents help children learn; you and I must give the girls in our care the opportunity to expand their minds and open their hearts to all the world has to offer.
That's what our new Computer Learning Center will be all about, and that's why I'm hoping you will do what you can to make it possible.
Thank you for your kindness, and thank you for the generous gift you send today.
Blessings,
Fr. Scott
P.S. Please send a gift to help fund our new Computer Learning Center. It's important that we get it fully funded so that it will be ready on time-to show the girls in our care that we are committed to their futures. Your gift is crucial to making this happen. Thank you for being such a wonderful part of the Mercy Home family, and God Bless you.
