Through special events and hands-on advocacy the Junior Board supports such programs as:
Leadership All Stars (LAS)
This program encourages Mercy Home’s young people to understand and accept civic and community responsibilities. By excelling academically youth can earn an adventure trip. In June, LAS winners will visit Lake of the Ozarks, MO.
Marie Craft Cottage
Located on Mercy Home’s Girls Campus, the Craft Cottage provides a space where young women can cultivate their talents through arts and crafts projects while learning how to develop business and marketing plans for their creations.
Hoops to Homework
This annual intramural basketball program promotes academics, teamwork and good sportsmanship. The season begins with a live, multi-round draft for teams and culminates with a championship game held at DePaul University. In order to participate, young men must put forth extra effort in school and in their therapeutic programs at Mercy Home.
Friends First
Mercy Home’s Friends First mentoring program pairs positive adult role models with young men and women living in the Chicago area. If you are interested in learning more about the Friends First program, please contact Diane Venzera.
