Karlee Boike was a 2005-2006 MercyWorks volunteer. She worked with 11-15 year old girls in the Seton Home. Here are some of her thoughts from her volunteer year about her experience as a youth care worker and a MercyWorks volunteer.

When I arrived in Chicago four months ago, I had no idea what lie ahead of me. Even though I am now familiar with my job and with my roommates, I still feel that every day and every experience is something new and different. Anne's Story

"A lot of people view volunteering as a sacrifice. But I gained much more than I could have imagined when I gave a year of service after graduation to the MercyWorks program," said program manager Anne Althoff, reflecting on her volunteer experience six years ago. She has worked full time with kids at Mercy Home ever since.
