ONLINE CONTEST OFFERS ONE LUCKY GROUP OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS A FLOAT IN THE CHICAGO ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
CHICAGO—St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner and with it Mercy Home for Boys & Girls will be giving one lucky winner a unique opportunity to ride on a float with their family and friends in Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Saturday, March 12. Using a Facebook campaign Mercy Home for Boys & Girls is announcing the “Show Us Your Shamrock Smile” contest to inspire families and friends in Chicagoland to share their shamrock spirit.
The contest asks entrants to visit Mercy Home’s Facebook page to upload a picture with their best Shamrock Smile through March 3. Starting on March 4, participants will use the power of liking and sharing on the social networking site to garner the most votes. Voting ends at noon on March 8 and the winner will be announced March 8 at 5 p.m. The winner will then have the opportunity to bring up to 14 other family members and friends on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade float on Saturday, March 12.
“We are excited to be able to connect with Chicago-area families in such a fun and personal way,” said Father Scott Donahue, president and CEO of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. “We hope the contest will introduce more people to Mercy Home and inspire them to help us put a smile on the faces of the kids in crisis we serve throughout the year.”
Shamrocks for Kids
The contest is part of Mercy Home’s annual Shamrocks for Kids program. Throughout the month of March, Shamrocks for Kids features family-friendly, Irish-themed activities and events while raising funds and awareness to help abused, neglected and at-risk children. Shamrocks for Kids is named for Mercy Home’s distinctive green shamrock lapel pin and ribbon. As they do every year this month, volunteers will hit the streets, distributing shamrock pins for donations to Mercy Home at Chicago-area St. Patrick’s Day parades and celebrations.
