Give Securities and Receive Tax Benefits

Our Children's Security May Lie In Your Securities.

Long-term, appreciated securities invested in Mercy Home helps our children, and can help you solve a problem.

The Problem
Those who invest in securities have become accustomed to the market fluctuations that are part and parcel of such an investment. Although these movements can be gut wrenching, history has proven that money invested in the market does appreciate over time. However tempting it may be to sell a particular stock or redeem a bond, lurking just a tax return away is tax on the capital gain. Low cost basis on a highly appreciated stock is a wonderful problem to have, but it is still a problem.

The Solution
Our tax laws are written in such a way that if you use securities to make an outright gift to Mercy Home, you not only avoid tax on your capital gain, you are also allowed a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the asset, up to 30% of your adjusted gross income. In addition, the cash you might otherwise have used to make the gift is available for other uses. So there are three great advantages for you ...and a wonderful gift to our children.

The Benefit of Mercy Home
Your gift will assist Mercy Home in its century-old mission of offering love, education, and guidance to society's "thrown-away" kids. Mercy Home is committed to putting God's mercy into action by expanding its outreach to an ever increasing number of children. We have been called a model for childcare institutions in this country, and your gift will help us touch the lives of children who have long since given up hope, and desperately need the quality of care Mercy Home provides.
