Leader Council Mission

Established in 2002 by a number of accomplished professional women in the greater Chicago area, the Leader Council of Mercy Home endeavors to secure funding and access to the best educational and vocational opportunities for Mercy Home's children. Their support is critical because the educational needs of Mercy Home's young people are very complex:

  • most of the children are at least two years behind their peers academically
  • learning disabilities, unsafe environments, poor study habits, and general neglect have contributed to this learning gap
  • the children require smaller classes with more personal attention
  • most children make better progress if they are moved to a new school where they get a fresh start
  • private schools and learning centers are often the best equipped environments for helping our young people.

LEADER COUNCIL MISSION

The Leader Council finds the necessary funding for scholarships to schools - elementary through college - that can best help Mercy's children bridge this learning gap and find success.

Members of Mercy Home's Leader Council:

  • Act as ambassadors, and advocate on behalf of Mercy Home in their communities
  • Utilize their personal and professional resources to benefit Mercy Home's children
  • Help identify and secure corporate sponsorships for their annual event

And most importantly...
Are a powerful engine of change in the lives of Mercy's young people
