A Note from Fr. Scott

"The gift you have received, give as a gift"
-Matthew 10:8

Our lives are packed solid with responsibilities. Our to-do lists never seem to get shorter as the week goes on. After tending to the countless concerns in our lives, our families, and our jobs, we rarely have time left just to breathe!

Yet across this compassionate country of ours, millions of men and women freely give away one of their most precious and scarcest commodities-time.

I thank God every day that there are so many people who heed the Gospel's call to give to those less fortunate. Mercy Home, as you know, could not give our young people the care they need without the financial donations we receive from our supporters.

I want to take the occasion of National Volunteer Week, however, to offer a special and heartfelt note of gratitude to those who faithfully donate their time to help kids in crisis. That's because we rely on generous men and women who volunteer year round to help our kids. People like the tutors who work with our young people to help them get the quality education they will need to create successful futures. Or our mentors who provide guidance and role modeling for kids out in the community. And, our MercyWorks volunteers who live with us at Mercy Home for one year after college while working directly with our children. Please know that I am deeply thankful and that you remain in my prayers.

Please join me in honoring and applauding these selfless individuals by reading a few inspiring examples of their commitment.

Blessings,

Fr. Scott
