Is Christmas Special to You?

"Christmas is stupid!" Jimmy burst out.

I have to admit I choked up a bit trying to promise him that this year would be different.

You see, to Jimmy, Christmas has only been another day to get beaten up by his father.  He was terrified to ask about presents because he knew then he'd really get his dad angry-and just couldn't face another beating.

I thank God that the authorities rescued Jimmy from his father.

But still...I'm worried about him.  I'm worried that he may never believe in Christmas.  Try as we may, you and I cannot give Jimmy back the childhood he lost.  We can't give him the loving parents and warm childhood memories he should have had.

Will you help me give Christmas back to kids who, like Jimmy, have never known the joy and wonder of the holidays?  On Christmas morning, I would like Jimmy to find a beautifully wrapped gift just for him.  Your generous gift world of difference in helping open our kids' hearts to the glory of the season.

Our kids have missed out on a lot in their sad, young lives. With your help, I want to give them their first real Christmas-a gift they will always remember.

Blessings,

Fr. Scott
