Do you have any summer plans?

I'm honored by your support of the boys and girls of Mercy Home.  Your spirit of friendship, and the prayers and love you share so freely truly make a tremendous impact in our Home. 

And now, as the weather warms and the summer approaches, you and I have a unique opportunity to do something very special for the troubled kids in our care-we can give them healing, wonder and the gift of self-reliance and trust. 

You see, every year I try to send my children to summer camp-because it is much more than time away.  Camp is a time for our kids to realize that they're part of a larger world beyond the noise and violence of the city-and a time for them to see the majesty of God's creation. 

Camp is a healing experience-a chance for our kids to work together, and to see things they never thought they'd see, to form friendships, and to learn that they are brave and strong young men and women.  But above all, it's a chance to show these hurting children that they are loved.

Because I believe that by showing our kids that they are loved and part of a real family, we can take incredible strides toward healing them of the damage and suffering they've endured in their young lives.

And that's why I need your help.

Please know that I wouldn't ask if the need wasn't so great.  But, I'm sure you're experiencing this yourself-costs are skyrocketing. 

Could you send a special gift today to help me take my children to camp this summer?  This trip means the world to my boys and girls-and truly makes a tremendous impact on their lives.

If you could spare $37, that would cover the cost of one day for one child.  And even a gift of $18 to help pay for a half-day would be a great help.  Or, if you could send a gift of $259 to pay for one of our kids to go to camp for one whole week-I would be indebted to your kindness.

P.S. Just like so many of my kids, I grew up without a father-and my summers away at camp as an Eagle Scout were life-changing.  I pray you can help me bring the same wonder, peace and happiness into my children's lives this summer.
