Savory Sweet Potato Chips

Savory Sweet Potato Chips

Nothing is better for the kids at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls than a healthy and yummy after school snack!

In this 3-part series of “Noshing with Nyah,” co-worker Nyah creates after school snacks perfect for munching while relaxing, a break after chores or doing homework! In this third video, she makes Sweet Savory Potato Chips. It’s simple to make and will last you until dinner!

Savory Sweet Potato Chips

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 sweet potatoes
  • 4 cups peanut oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp chile powder
  • 2 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Scrub each sweet potato under cold water to get rid of any dirt.

Assemble food processor with slicing disc and adjust to the thinnest setting possible. If using a mandoline, slice as thinly as possible.

Feed sweet potatoes through the food processor’s feeding tube one at a time. Repeat until all the sweet potatoes have been sliced.

In a large, heavy-bottom pot or a deep fryer, heat oil to 320 degrees F.

Working in batches, fry sweet potato slices until slightly browned, about 2-3 minutes.

Remove from oil and drain on a paper-towel lined pan.

Sprinkle immediately with seasoning and salt and pepper.

Repeat until all slices have been fried.
