A Beautiful Partnership: Mercy Home Heroes and Fleet Feet Sports Chicago

Once again, Fleet Feet Sports Chicago showed their love for the children of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls by making our home their official charity for January at all seven of their Chicagoland locations.

In addition to dressing up some mannequins in Mercy Home Heroes gear to raise awareness, Fleet Feet opened their doors for us to host several runs and tell the story of Mercy Home. They also donated boxes of great gear for our kids to wear.

Fleet Feet owner and CEO Dave Zimmer took the time to be part of a Facebook Live event around the right apparel and accessories for running in cold weather at their beautiful new Old Town store.

Throughout the history of the Heroes program, which began in 2011, Fleet Feet has helped outfit our runners in the right shoes and gear, all while giving back five percent of every Heroes’ purchase directly to the work of Mercy Home.

Another way Fleet Feet comes to the aid of our Heroes is through training led by CES (Chicago Endurance Sports). Their program, which Mercy Home covers for all our Heroes, begins June 2 and runs for 19 weeks leading right up to the Oct. 7 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

If you are interested in running the sold-out Chicago Marathon, the Mercy Home Heroes have a spot for you. Since 1887, Mercy Home has been a solution for kids in crisis. With your support, we can continue the legacy of bringing healing and opportunity to hurting kids for years to come.

Our team provides a guaranteed entry, free training, fundraising support, Heroes gear and a pre-race pasta dinner. But the biggest perks come on race day. You will get a Hero’s welcome from friends, family and the children you’re helping as you run past Mercy Home at Mile 16. And our Hero HQ, just blocks from the start/finish lines, provides you with real indoor bathrooms (no long lines at the porta-potties), private gear check, prerace and postrace food, postrace massages and more! We will even shuttle your cheer squad from HQ to Mercy Home and back via trolley.

Become a partner in the great work that Mercy Home and Fleet Feet are doing to help kids in Chicago. You won’t regret it.
