Pink was the color of the evening at a breast cancer awareness event held recently at the Walsh Campus.
In a cafeteria decorated to the nines with balloons, streamers, pink tablecloths, and pink signs supporting breast cancer awareness, our young ladies enjoyed an all-pink meal, including pink fettuccine alfredo, pink Caesar salad, pink rolls, and pink lemonade with strawberries and raspberries, all prepared by Chef Nyah Griffin. And after the first course, there were pink cupcakes for dessert!
Following the meal, Monti Clayton stopped by the Walsh Campus to share a little bit about friend of the Home Suzanne Zaccone, who has battled breast cancer, before Couderc Home Program Manager Gewanda Monroe opened up a discussion about how our girls and coworkers had been affected by the disease.
A number of both our young women and coworkers shared their experiences and had the chance to remember loved ones who lost their battle with breast cancer. It was a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness and honor those who had suffered from breast cancer.
Gewanda also told the girls that cards showing how to do self-exams would be handed out to each home so that they could all begin what could be a life-saving habit.
