Fr. Scott’s Corner – The Christmas Season

A favorite movie of mine is Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I am sure you are familiar with this wonderful story of how one life makes a difference in the lives of so many others, even if we don’t realize it.

In this movie, George Bailey, a man who believes his life has been wasted, is given the rare opportunity to see what his hometown would be like if he had never been born. With the help of an angel named Clarence, George learns that even though he is not a wealthy man, he is rich beyond measure in the goodness he has brought into the lives of others.

“The Christmas season is one of the best times to make a difference in the lives of others.”

The Christmas season is one of the best times to make a difference in the lives of others. You truly have the opportunity to be an angel to those around you! Whether it is by giving a special gift to a favorite charity, buying a Christmas gift for a lonely neighbor or needy child, or simply offering a kind word of holiday cheer to a passing stranger, there is something we can all do to make the season brighter for others.

And, most of all, we can celebrate the most precious gift mankind has ever received—the gift of God’s only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Always know that with Christ’s love, we are never alone. He is with us during every step of our lives.

In this incredibly special time of the year, I hope you will remember your brothers and sisters in Christ in your prayers. Please know that you are in both my prayers and the prayers of the entire Mercy Home family. Merry Christmas!
