Contracted Therapeutic Spanish Translator Needed
To ensure that programs at both campuses have sufficient bilingual coworkers on call to help interpret for our monolingual families, we are seeking contracted therapeutic translators.
These individuals are clinically fluent in the language or languages that our families are familiar with and understand, primarily Spanish.
The Contracted Therapeutic Spanish Translator provides translation for periodic family therapy sessions and at times is asked to assist in communicating with families if a youth is psychiatrically hospitalized and/or attends family therapy sessions while youth is in the hospital.
They maintain a neutral stance and facilitate the formation of rapport between family and program therapist. They attend family support functions, make brief emergency calls to families to inform them of significant events concerning their child, e.g., school suspension/expulsion, serious behavioral, acting out in program, the implementation of physical restraint, runaway/AWOL, substance abuse, medical/psychiatric emergencies, etc.
They are also available to receive calls from parents who want to communicate something to program staff between scheduled weekly phone calls.
