A reading from the Second Book of Kings.
Naaman went down and plunged into the Jordan.
Seven times at the word of Elisha, the man of God.
His flesh became like the flesh of a little child.
And he was clean of his leprosy.
Naaman returned with his whole retinue to the man of God.
On his arrival he stood before Elisha and said,
“Now I know that there is no God.
In all the earth except in Israel.
Please accept a gift from your servant.”
Elisha replied, “as the Lord whom I serve lives,
I will not take it.”
And despite Naaman’s urging, he still refused.
Naaman said, “if you will not accept,
Please let me, your servant, have two mule loads of earth,
For I will no longer offer
Holocaust or sacrifice to any other God except to the Lord.”
The word of the Lord.
-thanks be to God.

∫ the Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power. ∫
∫ o Sing a new Song to the Lord, ∫
∫ for he has worked wonders. ∫
∫ his right hand and his Holy arm have brought salvation. ∫
∫ the Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power. ∫
A reading from the second letter of St. Paul to timothy.
Beloved, remember Jesus Christ,
Raised from the dead, a descendant of David.
Such is my Gospel for which I am suffering,
Even to the point of chains, like a criminal.
But the word of God is not chained.
Therefore, I bear with everything.
For the sake of those who are chosen,
So that they too may obtain salvation
That is in Christ Jesus, together with eternal glory.
This saying is trustworthy.
If we have died with him, we shall also live with him.
If we persevere, we shall also reign with him.
But if we deny him, he will deny us.
If we are unfaithful, he remains unfaithful.
For he cannot deny himself.
The word of the Lord.
-thanks be to God.
∫ [piano music] ∫
∫ alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, ∫
∫ alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. ∫
∫ in all circumstances give thanks, ∫
∫ for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. ∫
∫ alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. ∫
The Lord be with you.
-and with your Spirit.
Ours is a reading now from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
-glory to you, o Lord.
As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem,
He traveled through Samaria and galilee.
As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him.
They stood at a distance from him.
And raised their voices saying,
“Jesus, master, have pity on us.”
And when he saw them, he said,
“Go, show yourselves to the priest.”
And as they were going, they were cleansed.
And one of them, realizing he had been healed,
Returned, glorifying God in a loud voice,
And he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him.
He was a Samaritan.
Jesus said in reply, “ten were cleansed, were they not?
Where are the other nine?
Has none but this foreigner returned.
To give thanks to God?”
Then he said, “stand up. Go. Your Faith has saved you.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
-praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
There’s an interesting little story.
About a man who was lost in the desert
And he’s dying of thirst.
And he stumbles upon a small shack.
Where he found a water pump with a small jar of water
That was sitting next to it.
And there was a note that read,
“Use this water to prime the pump,
And when you’re done,
Refill the jar for the next traveler.”
Now the man was faced with a choice.
Drink the water now and satisfy his thirst.
Or take a leap of Faith, use it to prime the pump.
And potentially get unlimited water.
After a moment of hesitation,
He poured the water into the pump,
Started pumping furiously,
And soon fresh, cool water gushed out.
He drank the water till his heart was content.
And then he refilled his canteen and before leaving,
He filled the jar with water for the next traveler.
And that’s when he saw at the bottom of the note.
That he first read that someone had written in small print,
“Trust me, it works.”
This little story ties in, I think,
Beautifully with today’s Gospel, where Jesus heals ten lepers.
But only one- the Samaritan
Come back to give thanks.
All ten were healed, but only one came back,
Recognizing that the source of his healing
Was not just the miracle, but Jesus himself.
His gratitude was an act of Faith.
Just like the man in the story
Who trusted the note and primed the pump?
So often in life, we cry out to God in desperation,
Just as the lepers did.
“Jesus, master, have Mercy on us.”
And God and God’s goodness
In God’s own unique ways blesses us.
But how do we return to give thanks?
Gratitude is more than good manners.
It’s a sign of Faith, a recognition.
That everything we have is a gift from God.
The other nine lepers receive physical healing,
But the one who returned received something greater.
He received the gift of salvation.
Jesus tells him, “Your Faith has saved you.”
This is the power of thanksgiving.
It not only acknowledges what we have received,
But it opens us up for greater blessing.
So today, let’s ask ourselves, are we like the nine.
Enjoying God’s gifts without acknowledging the giver?
Or are we like the one returning in Faith with gratitude?
Friends, I think that we are praying.
This Mass together over the airways
From wherever you are reminding us that we are people
That not only receive but also return to give thanks.
The good news today reminds us that it is in our gratitude.
That we find true healing.
It’s in our gratitude that we find true healing.
In the Spirit of Thanksgiving,
Let us profess what draws us now as one.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
And born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day, he rose again.
He ascended into Heaven
And is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church,
The communion of Saints, the forgiveness of Sins,
The Resurrection of the body and life is everlasting.
Amen.
And now as a people of Faith, hope and love,
Let us bring our many needs and care.
And put them in the heart of God.
Our response to each Prayer will be, “Lord, hear our Prayer.”
For our Church leaders who spread the Gospel
Throughout the world, may they continue to show.
The Lord’s unconditional love and fill all hearts with peace.
We pray to the Lord.
-Lord, hear our Prayer.
For our loved ones who have been called home to the Lord,
May they now rest in his eternal Kingdom.
We pray to the Lord.
-Lord, hear our Prayer.
For the children of Mercy Home,
As they continue their studies this school year,
May they find the strength?
To continue following the right path.
We pray to the Lord.
-Lord, hear our Prayer.
For those whose hearts have turned away from their Faith,
May they once again know the comfort and peace
Of the Lord’s presence.
We pray to the Lord.
-Lord, hear our Prayer.
Loving God, hear the Prayers that we speak out loud.
And all that we always still carry deep in our hearts.
As we place them before you and pray through Christ our Lord.
-Amen.
∫ [piano music] ∫
Through the mingling of water and wine,
We share the divinity of Christ.
Who humbled himself to share our humanity.
Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation.
Through your goodness, we have this wine to offer.
Fruit of the vine, work of human hands.
May it become our Spiritual drink.
-Blessed be God forever.
And Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation.
Through your goodness, we have bread to offer,
Which earth has given human hands have made.
May it become for us the bread of life.
-Blessed be God forever.
Lord, wash away my iniquities.
Cleanse me of all Sin.
∫ [piano music continues] ∫
We pray now in Faith that these gifts are.
Of bread and wine offered be acceptable
To our almighty and loving God.
-may the Lord accept the sacrifice at our hands
For the praise and glory of God’s name,
For our good and the good of all God’s Holy Church.
Accept, o Lord, the Prayers of your Faithful
With the sacrificial offerings
That through these acts of devotedness
We may pass over to the glory of Heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.
-Amen.
The Lord be with you.
-and with your Spirit.
Lift up your heart.
-we lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
-it is right and just.
It is right and just our duty and our salvation.
Always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, almighty and eternal God through Christ our Lord.
For by his birth, he brought renewal.
To humanity’s fallen state.
And by his suffering, canceled out our Sins.
By his rising from the dead,
He has opened the way to Eternal Life.
And by ascending to you, o God,
He unlocked the gates of Heaven.
Now with all the company of angels and Saints,
We Sing this hymn to your praise.
∫ [piano music] ∫
∫ Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts, ∫
∫ Heaven and earth are full of your glory. ∫
∫ hosanna in the highest. ∫
∫ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. ∫
∫ hosanna in the highest. ∫
You are indeed Holy, or Lord, the fount of all holiness.
Make Holy therefore these gifts, we pray,
By sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall
So that they may become for us
The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed
And entered willingly into his passion,
He took bread and thanked me,
Broke it, gave it to the disciples.
Saying, “take this, all of you eat of it.
This is my body given up for you.”
In a similar way, when the supper ended,
He took the chalice once more giving thanks,
Give it to the disciples saying,
“Take this, all of you drink from it.
For this is the chalice of my blood,
The blood of the new eternal covenant.
It will be poured out for you and for many.
For the forgiveness of Sin.
Do this in memory of me.”
The mystery of our Faith.
∫ [piano music] ∫
∫ when we eat this bread and drink this cup, ∫
∫ we proclaim your death, o Lord, ∫
∫ until you come again. ∫
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial.
Of his death and Resurrection,
We offer you, Lord,
The bread of life, the chalice of salvation,
Giving thanks that you have held us worthy.
To be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly, we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ,
We may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church spread throughout the world.
And bring her to the full of charity.
Together with our Holy Father,
With our archbishop, Blase Cupich,
And all the Bishops and those who minister.
In your Churches everywhere.
Remember also our brothers and sisters,
Those who have fallen asleep in the hope of the Resurrection.
And all who have died in your Mercy.
Welcome them into the light of your face.
Have Mercy on us all, we pray,
That with the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of God,
With joseph, her spouse,
With the Blessed Apostles and all the Saints,
Those who have pleased you throughout the ages,
We may merit to be co-heirs to Eternal Life,
And one day their praise and glorify you.
Through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through him, with him, and in him,
O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
All glory and honor are yours forever and ever.
∫ [piano music] ∫
∫ Amen, Amen, Amen. ∫
And now with confidence, we pray as Jesus taught:
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
They come; they will be done.
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us on this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespassed against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil.
And graciously grant peace on this day.
In your Mercy, keep us free from Sin.
Protect us from anxiety and despair as we await.
The Blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
For the Kingdom, power, and glory are yours
Now and forever.
The peace of the Lord be with you always.
-and with your Spirit.
And now, brothers and sisters, from all of us here
At Mercy Home for Boys and Girls,
To all of you folks at home,
We want to extend our presence and power.
Of Christ’s love and peace.
∫ [piano music] ∫
∫ lamb of God, ∫
∫ you take away the Sins of the world ∫
∫ have Mercy on us. ∫
∫ lamb of God, ∫
∫ you take away the Sins of the world ∫
∫ have Mercy on us. ∫
∫ lamb of God, ∫
∫ you take away the Sins of the world ∫
∫ grant us peace. ∫
We behold God’s care and love for us and Jesus.
The lamb of God who takes away our Sin.
And the Sin of the world,
Strengthened and Blessed are we, sharing the supper of the lamb.
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
But I only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
May the body of Christ, may the blood of Christ?
Keep us safe, for everlasting life.
Amen.
∫ [piano music] ∫

Let us pray.
We entrust your majesty, most humble, o Lord,
That as you feed us with the nourishment which comes from
The most Holy body and blood of your Son,
So, you may make us sharers of his divine nature.
Who lives and reigns, forever and ever.
-Amen.
I invite everyone at home to please join us in the Prayer.
For the children of Mercy Home:
Our lady of Mercy,
We pray that you will guide, protect, and bless.
All boys and girls who on this day have a home called Mercy.
May they find Father’s Mercy as we offer them our hearts?
In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ.
May they see God’s Mercy in action through our love,
Prayers, and sacrifices.
Friends, I want to bring us back to my little story today.
About the man who found that jar of water next to the pump.
What would you have done?
Would you have drank the water first or primed the pump?
It’s a reminder how we always have to put our trust in God.
So that God can really fill us with more and more of God’s.
Surprises and blessings that await us.
I hope that that story will stay in your heart.
As we go into the week ahead.
Today I also want to do a little shoutout.
It’s one of our camera people’s birthday, Tracy,
So, a shoutout to Tracy and to all of you at home
Who may be celebrating birthdays today?
From here at Mercy Home for boys and girls,
Happy birthday.
The Lord be with you.
-and with your Spirit.
We bow our heads now and ask God’s blessing.
Loving God, we know that you are always present with us.
In the challenges of life.
Help us in those challenges.
To really trust your presence and how you are with us.
And how you will bless us in unexpected ways.
We take this blessing now and go forward.
In the name of the Father
And of the Son
And of the Holy Spirit.
-Amen.
We go now in peace to love and serve God.
By our continued care for each other.
-thanks be to God.

We behold God’s care and love for us and Jesus.
The lamb of God who takes away our Sin.
And the Sin of the world,
Strengthened and Blessed are we, sharing the supper of the lamb.
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
But I only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
May the body of Christ, may the blood of Christ?
Keep us safe, for everlasting life.

Help us in those challenges.
To really trust your presence and how you are with us.
And how you will bless us in unexpected ways.
We take this blessing now and go forward.
In the name of the Father
And of the Son
And of the Holy Spirit.
-Amen.
We go now in peace to love and serve God.
By our continued care for each other.

∫ [piano music] ∫
∫ the Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power. ∫

-we lift them up to the Lord.

Or take a leap of faith, use it to prime the pump
And potentially get unlimited water.
After a moment of hesitation,
He poured the water into the pump,
Started pumping furiously,
And soon fresh, cool water gushed out.
He drank the water till his heart was content.
And then he refilled his canteen and before leaving,
He filled the jar with water for the next traveler.
And that’s when he saw at the bottom of the note
That he first read that someone had written in small print,
“trust me, it works.”
This little story ties in, I think,
Beautifully with today’s gospel, where Jesus heals ten lepers
But only one- the Samaritan
Comes back to give thanks.
All ten were healed, but only one comes back,
Recognizing that the source of his healing
Was not just the miracle, but Jesus himself.
His gratitude was an act of faith.
Just like the man in the story
Who trusted the note and primed the pump.
So often in life, we cry out to god in desperation,
Just as the lepers did.
“Jesus, master, have mercy on us.”
And god and god’s goodness
In god’s own unique ways blesses us.
But how do we return to give thanks?
Gratitude is more than good manners.
It’s a sign of faith, a recognition
That everything we have is a gift from god.
The other nine lepers receive physical healing,
But the one who returned received something greater.
He received the gift of salvation.
Jesus tells him, “Your faith has saved you.”
This is the power of Thanksgiving.
It not only acknowledges what we have received,
But it opens us up for greater blessing.
So today, let’s ask ourselves, are we like the nine
Enjoying god’s gifts without acknowledging the giver?
Or we are like the one returning in faith with gratitude?
Friends, I think the fact that we are praying
This mass together over the airways
From wherever you are reminds us that we are people
That not only receive, but also return to give thanks.
The good news today reminds us it is in our gratitude
That we find true healing.
It’s in our gratitude that we find true healing.
