Refer a Child to Mercy Home

Mercy home can quickly provide care for youth and their families.  With our four step admissions process, we are able to determine our ability to help the youth and the youth’s desire to change.

Making a Referral

Email or call the Admissions Office toll-free at (312) 738-7590. During the telephone inquiry, we gather information, describe the admissions process, and explain the type of care Mercy Home can provide to youth. Upon completing this preliminary step, we will setup an informational visit or an assessment appointment.

The Informational Visit
When a youth and a family are unsure about the idea of residential placement, we encourage them to come and talk to a case manager, tell their story and gather information about our home. The informational visit will help to dispel any misconceptions or myths about residential institutions, giving them a real sense of day-to-day life at Mercy Home.

Assessment
When a youth and a family are ready to pursue placement, we setup an assessment to ascertain the type of help a family needs. A clinical psychologist, a case manager, and an educational coordinator, conduct a comprehensive assessment. Through their evaluation, we are able to appraise the difficulties a youth and his/her family face and develop a plan for services.

Move-in or Referral
If we determine that Mercy Home has services for the youth and the youth decides they want to be at Mercy Home, we will schedule a move-in date.

Not all troubled children need the residential care that we offer.  Because we want all hurting children to receive the help that we need, we offer additonal resources that may be able to help your child.
