As the school year begins, the AfterCare team can’t help but reminisce about this summer’s annual Scholar Retreat held at the end of July.
During the three-day retreat, 31 scholars joined coworkers at LaSalle Manor for the purpose of building a community that allows for support from AfterCare staff and members as the 2019-2020 academic year approaches.
Scholars and coworkers learned how their academic goals could be accomplished by using mindfulness, which was used the next day in exploring the site’s labyrinth. Our scholars also participated in art therapy activities that allowed them to make their own keepsakes from the retreat.
Our members also enjoyed the setting of the retreat site, which included opportunities to bike on the trails, canoe in the lake, play basketball on the courts, and swim in the pool.
All of our members had a great time and left refreshed and ready for the upcoming school year.
