The Ambassadors of Mercy board and a group of motivated volunteers packed 60 meal kits for Community Care and Friends First families in preparation of the Easter Celebration last week. The kits were then delivered so that Mercy Home families could enjoy a special meal.
The Ambassadors of Mercy have focused their volunteer efforts on the Community Care program in the last few years, particularly around the Thanksgiving and Easter holidays to support those in need. Many of the event’s volunteers were returners from Thanksgiving’s event in the fall.

But Kevin Roeder, a new member of the board, wanted to make a difference quickly.
“I was inspired to come because it’s an opportunity to give back to these individuals who want to be given an opportunity and we are here to support them,” he said.
Kevin Buggy has volunteered at the Thanksgiving meal packing event multiple times but decided he wanted to give back for Easter this year too.
“My favorite part about coming to this is knowing the impact we are going to have on the people who are going to receive all this food,” Buggy said. “We don’t get to see what their faces look like, but we know we’re doing the right thing and we’re impacting people in a positive way especially this time of year.”
Mariano’s donated all of the food that included items such as ham, oranges, potatoes, vegetables, rolls, and other classic Easter foods. Mary Devlin also kindly donated Aldi gift cards that went into each meal kit.
Ambassadors George Nolan, Dino Sepsis and Pat Quinn not only donated their own time, but also brought members of their family from St. Ignatius College Prep, Mount Carmel, and other schools in the area. The kids helped stuff eggs full of candy that were given to the Mercy Home families at Saturday’s Community Care Easter Celebration event in the soccer building. Brian Bullington, John Salvino and Vincent LoVerde also participated and continue to make such a giant impact on the Home.
We are grateful to our Ambassadors for packing meals each year and making a difference in the lives of the people we serve!
