I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas and the blessings of God in this coming New Year.
I also want to thank you for your incredible generosity in helping us here at Mercy Home take care of over 600 children each and every day. It would not be possible without your generosity.
Years ago, I met a priest who served 37 years in Bangladesh. He worked with the poorest of the poor. In his little village there were widows and children who had absolutely nothing.
One day the priest received a sizable check in the mail, and he divided it among all of the widows in the village. He called them to the rectory, gave them the money, and later that afternoon, there was a knock on the door. It was one of the widows. He asked her, “what are you doing here?”
She said, “Father, I’d like to make a donation to the poor.”
He said, “You are the poor! That’s why I gave you the money.”
She said, “Yes, Father, I know. But, I want to give to the poor.”
He repeated himself, and the widow said, “Father, let me do this. I have never had the opportunity, the privilege to do anything for the poor. It’s what you’ve been preaching for years. Please do not deny me this opportunity to help.”
That story has stayed in my mind and in my heart for years.
Each of you , through your generosity to Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, help me and my coworkers work with the children who are entrusted to our care. You give them the opportunities to have a better life. You bring hope and you bring healing to them.
I thank you for that during this Christmas season.
If you’d like to help us here at Mercy Home, I would ask that you please click the donate link. Please share your generosity with us, so that we can share the gift of your love to the children here at Mercy Home.
Merry Christmas.
