Cooking Up Summer Fun

Our Walsh Campus held its annual Field Day and barbecue for the young people living there.

Mercy Home’s Vice President of Community Care Daniel Nelson and Director Business Development & Strategic Initiatives Jim Marrese grilled chicken and ribs for everyone to enjoy. Our kitchen coworkers did a great job preparing delicious sides.

After dinner, participants tested their athletic skills with a staff-versus-youth volleyball match, followed by team relay games. Everyone also enjoyed summer staples of cotton candy and snow cones.

“It was a great summer day at the Walsh Campus!” said Associate Vice President of Walsh Campus Amy Schulz.

The barbeque at the Walsh Girls Campus followed a similar event at our West Loop Campus. Gatherings like these strengthen bonds between our young people and staff and give them the chance to soak up the simple summer pleasures of childhood.

We are deeply grateful to the generous donors to the Home who make these opportunities possible.
