Each year, a group of dedicated men and women run the Bank of American Chicago Marathon to benefit the children of Mercy Home. They raise critical funds and awareness for the care of young people, and they show our boys and girls that perseverance can lead to amazing feats. We call them our Mercy Home Heroes.
This past year, we had a very special Hero in the race: one of our young men, Andrew. He trained with his therapist, Megan, and the two ran all 26.2 miles side by side. We were overjoyed to cheer Andrew on as he ran past Mercy Home with a smile on his face.
Andrew’s marathon was an inspiration to us all. We wanted to share Andrew’s reflection about why he chose to become a Mercy Home Hero and about what Mercy Home, and the support you make possible, mean to him.
