Mercy Home was thrilled to welcome members of our Associate Board for the 2020 Post-Secondary Pep Rally for our young men last Thursday.
With the help of our board members, our kids were able to enjoy a night that allowed them to consider different career and education options they could pursue after high school graduation.
The evening kicked off with board member Jasen Toussaint sharing the story of his career journey, including both the good decisions and mistakes he made along the way. Following a career in banking, he realized that his passion was in Human Resources. He said his current career as a recruiter excites him every day. “Being a part of people’s success makes is easy to get out of bed in the morning,” he said.
He left the youth with some words of advice, including to get as much exposure as they can from people who work in any field that might interest them.

After Jasen spoke, everyone participated in a scavenger hunt, where the boys asked board members questions listed on a packet that was passed out. These questions included things like what a four-year degree is called and the average salary for an entry-level worker. After the scavenger hunt, the kids had the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test during a round of Family Feud.
This was, as always, a great night of learning and community for our kids and board members.
