The following presentation is made possible

By the generosity of the viewers

Of Sunday Mass at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago.

Good morning and welcome

To Sunday Mass at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.

Today we celebrate the exultation of the holy cross.

My name is Dan Riley.

I’m joined by Tom McNamara and Matt Beran,

And our celebrant is Father Jason Malave.

∫ Jesus is lord of all the earth. ∫

∫ He is the king of creation. ∫

∫ Hallelujah, hallelujah, ∫

∫ Give thanks to the risen lord. ∫

∫ Hallelujah, hallelujah, ∫

∫ Give praise to his name. ∫

Friends, sisters and brothers, we mark our prayer together;

In the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit.

-Amen.

The grace and peace of our lord, Jesus Christ,

The love of God and the communion of the holy spirit be with you.

-And with your spirit.

We gather together around this eucharistic table

And to hear the word of God

And the church invites us to celebrate and remember

The cross upon which Jesus hung,

The cross that brings us salvation.

As we celebrate this cross as we grow closer to Christ Jesus,

Let us call to mind anything

That stands in the way of being Jesus’ disciple.

You offer us healing of body and soul.

Lord have mercy.

-Lord have mercy.

You offer us forgiveness, pardon and peace.

Christ have mercy.

-Christ have mercy.

You welcome us into the gates of paradise

To be with you forever in heaven.

Lord have mercy.

-Lord have mercy.

May almighty God have mercy on us,

Forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life.

-Amen.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Glory to God in the highest ∫

∫ And on earth peace to people of good will. ∫

∫ Glory to God in the highest ∫

∫ And on earth peace to people of good will. ∫

Let us pray.

O God who willed that your only begotten son, Jesus,

Should undergo the cross to save the human race,

Grant we pray that we who have known his mystery on earth

May merit the grace of his redemption in heaven.

Through our lord, Jesus Christ, your son,

Who lives and reigns with you

In the unity of the holy spirit, one God forever and ever.

-Amen.

A reading from the book of numbers.

With their patience worn out by the journey,

The people complained against God and moses.

Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die

In this desert where there is no food or water?

We are disgusted with this wretched food.

In punishment the lord sent among the people

Seraph serpents which bit the people

So that many of them died.

Then the people came to moses and said,

“We have sinned in complaining against the lord and you.

Pray the lord to take the serpents from us.”

So moses prayed for the people and the lord said to moses,

“Make a seraph and mount it on a pole.

And if any who have been bitten look at it they will live.”

Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent

And mounted it on a pole and whenever anyone

Who had been bitten by a serpent

Looked at the bronze serpent he lived.

The word of the lord.

-Thanks be to God.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Do not forget the works of the lord. ∫

∫ Do not forget the works of the lord. ∫

∫ Give ear my people to my teaching. ∫

∫ Incline your ear to the words of my mouth, ∫

∫ I will open my mouth in a parable, ∫

∫ And utter hidden lessons of the past. ∫

∫ Do not forget the works of the lord. ∫

A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Philippians.

Brothers and sisters:

Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God,

Did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.

Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave,

Coming in human likeness,

And found human in appearance, he humbled himself,

Becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.

Because of this, God greatly exalted him

And bestowed on him the name that is above every name,

That at the name of Jesus,

Every knee shall bend of those in heaven

And on earth and under the earth,

And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is lord

To the glory of God the father.

The word of the lord.

-Thanks be to God.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. ∫

∫ Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. ∫

∫ We adore you, o Christ, and we bless you ∫

∫ Because by your cross you have redeemed the world ∫

∫ Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. ∫

My sisters and brothers, friends, the lord be with you.

-And with your spirit.

A reading from the holy gospel according to saint john.

-Glory to you, o lord.

May the word of God be on our minds,

On our lips, and our hearts.

Jesus said to Nicodemus,

“No one has gone up to heaven

“Except the one who has come down from heaven,

“The son of man.”

And just as moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,

So must the son of man be lifted up

So that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son

So that everyone who believes in him might not perish,

But might have eternal life.

For God did not send his son into the world

To condemn the world,

But that the world might be saved through him.

The gospel of the lord.

-Praise to you, lord Jesus Christ.

We have profoundly beautiful readings

For today’s celebration of the exaltation of the cross.

I’d encourage you, if you have your Mercy Home book,

Tear out those readings and put them next to your bedside,

Put them someplace you’ll see them again.

Hang on to those readings,

Especially the reading to the Philippians

That matt’s read so well today,

That beautiful reading from the Philippians

About who Jesus is.

And then we have this powerful reading from john’s gospel –

The third chapter of john’s gospel.

I’d venture to say that those two readings,

You could read over and over and over again to stay close

To the gift that is Jesus in the world.

Let me talk about john’s gospel, the third chapter.

I wanna go back to the very beginning of the third chapter.

We got the tail end of the third chapter.

I wanna go back to this encounter

Between Nicodemus and Jesus.

It’s a really beautiful, intimate encounter

Between the two.

In fact, in john’s gospel, it’ll say that Nicodemus

Came to Jesus under the cover of night.

Nicodemus, one of the pharisees,

Didn’t want anyone else to know

That he was gonna go talk to Jesus.

So when it was dark out, what did he do?

Under the cover of night,

He went to go have a conversation with Jesus.

And this is a summary of the conversation

That we get to before this reading.

Nicodemus professes, “you speak, you’re close to God.

God speaks through you.”

Jesus says something like,

“Yes, and you should know that we must be born from above.”

And Nicodemus says something like,

“What do we have to go back into our mother’s womb?”

Jesus says,

“No, you must be born of the holy spirit and water.”

Just like we are baptized in Christ Jesus

With the holy spirit and water.

And Jesus and Nicodemus is kind of incredulous.

And then we get this beautiful line from today’s gospel.

Look, you’re born from above,

You’re born of the holy spirit and water,

Just believe in me for eternal life.

Just believe in Jesus to have eternal life.

That’s what Jesus says to this beautiful character,

Nicodemus.

If you wanna see a great portrayal of Nicodemus,

Watch this series called “the chosen.”

You could find it on Netflix.

Watch “the chosen.”

Run and go watch “the chosen”

Starting tonight.

It’s that good.

And there’s a really great portrayal of Nicodemus

From season one all the way through to at least season

Five that we have for now.

We have this beautiful portrayal of Nicodemus,

His internal struggle to come to believe in Jesus,

Who’s the son of God.

As a pharisee, how he is a good Jewish Pharisee

Comes to believe in Jesus as the son of God.

Today, friends, we celebrate the great gift

That is to us, Jesus.

The fact that he was lifted up high in the cross,

Just like moses did with his followers,

So too is Jesus lifted high on the cross

So that we might have everlasting life.

And these readings that we have today point to Jesus

In the most powerful way.

As we celebrate the cross,

Let us stay so close to in our hearts,

In our minds, in our souls, in our belief,

The great gift that is Jesus

Who has given to us for salvation.

Today, we celebrate him lifted up on the cross

So that we might too also have everlasting life

With him in paradise.

Amen.

Shall we pray the apostles’ creed?

We pray together:

I believe in God, the father almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our lord.

He was conceived by the power of the holy spirit

And born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

Was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again,

He ascended into heaven

And is seated at the right hand of the father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the holy spirit, the holy catholic church,

The communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

The resurrection of the body and life everlasting.

Amen.

With great trust and confidence in Christ Jesus

And the power of God to bring us healing,

Let us offer our prayers and petitions.

Our response to each prayer will be,

“Lord hear our prayer.”

For all who spread Christ’s gospel message,

May their words and actions encourage others

To invite Christ into their life.

We pray to the lord.

-Lord, hear our prayer.

For those battling cancer,

May God’s presence give them strength in their struggles.

We pray to the lord.

-Lord, hear our prayer.

For the boys and girls of Mercy Home,

May they find academic success through their studies

And efforts this new school year.

We pray to the lord.

-Lord, hear our prayer.

For those who grieve a great loss in their lives,

May Christ’s healing presence bring them comfort

And give them hope.

We pray to the lord.

-Lord, hear our prayer.

Compassionate and generous God,

Hear the prayers of your faithful people.

In mercy and love grant these prayers,

We ask this through Christ our lord.

-Amen.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

Blessed are you lord, God of all creation,

For through your goodness we have received

The bread we offer you.

The fruit of the earth work of human hands,

May it become for us the bread of life.

Blessed are you lord, God of all creation,

For through your goodness we have received

The wine we offer you.

Fruit of the vine and work of human hands

It will become our spiritual drink.

(Priest quietly prays)

∫ (Piano music continues) ∫

Friends, sisters and brothers, people of faith,

Pray that my sacrifice – in fact your sacrifice

May be acceptable to God, the almighty father.

-Ay the lord accept the sacrifice at your hands

For the praise and glory of his name

For our good and the good of all his holy church.

May this oblation, o lord,

Which on the altar of the cross

Canceled the offense of the whole world,

May this oblation cleanse us, we pray, of all our sins

Through Christ our lord.

-Amen.

The lord be with you.

-And with your spirit.

Lift up your hearts.

-We lift them up to the lord.

Let us give thanks to the lord our God.

-It is right and just.

It is truly right and just,

Our duty and our salvation always and everywhere

To give you thanks, lord, holy father,

Almighty and eternal God,

For you place the salvation of the human race

On the wood of the cross

So that where death arose, life might again spring forth.

And the evil one who conquered on a tree

Might likewise on a tree be conquered

Through Christ our lord.

Through him the angels praise your majesty,

Dominions adore and powers tremble before you.

Heaven and the virtues of heaven

And the blessed seraphim worship together with exaltation.

May our voices, we pray, join with theirs

In humble praise as we acclaim:

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Holy, holy, holy. ∫

∫ Lord God of hosts, ∫

∫ Heaven and earth are full of your glory. ∫

∫ Hosanna in the highest. ∫

∫ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord. ∫

∫ Hosanna in the highest. ∫

You are indeed holy, o lord.

The font of all holiness.

Make holy therefore these gifts, we pray.

By sending down your spirit upon them like the dew fall,

So that they may become for us the body and blood

Of your son, our lord, Jesus Christ.

At the time Jesus was betrayed

And entered willingly into his passion,

He took bread and giving thanks broke it.

He gave it to his disciples.

He gave it to those he called saying, “take this.

“Take this all of you and eat of it.

“For this is my body, which will be given up for you.”

In a similar way when supper was ended,

He took the chalice and once more giving thanks,

He gave it to his disciples saying, “take this.

“Take this all of you and drink from it.

“For this is the chalice of my blood,

“The blood of the new and eternal covenant,

“Which will be poured out for you and for many

“For the forgiveness of sins.

“Do this.

“Do this in memory of me.”

The mystery of faith.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ When we eat this bread and drink this cup, ∫

∫ We proclaim your death, o lord, ∫

∫ Until you come again. ∫

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial

Of Jesus’ death and resurrection,

We offer you, lord, the bread of life

And the chalice of salvation,

Giving thanks that you’ve held us worthy

To be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly, we pray that partaking

Of the body and blood of Christ Jesus,

We may be gathered into one by the holy spirit.

Remember, lord, your church spread throughout the world.

Bring her to the fullness of charity

Together with our pope,

Blas…, our archbishop, and all the clergy.

Remember especially our sisters and brothers

Who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection

And all who have died in your mercy,

Welcome them into the light of your face.

Finally, have mercy on us all, we pray.

That with the blessed Virgin Mary,

Mother of God, our lady of mercy,

With the blessed apostles and all the saints

Who have pleased you throughout the ages,

We may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life

And may praise and glorify you

Through your son, Jesus Christ.

Through him and with him and in him;

O God, almighty father,

In the unity of the holy spirit,

All glory and honor is yours forever and ever.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Amen, amen, amen. ∫

At the savior’s command and formed by divine teaching,

We have the courage to pray together:

Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Leave us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Deliver us, lord, we pray, from every evil.

Graciously grant peace in our days,

That by the help of your mercy,

We may be always free from sin

And safe from all distress.

As we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior,

Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours

Now and forever.

Lord Jesus, who said to your apostles,

“Peace i leave you, my peace i give you.”

Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church,

And graciously grant her peace and unity

In accordance with your will,

Who live and reign forever and ever.

-Amen.

The peace of the lord be with you always.

-And with your spirit.

Let us offer each other a sign of Christ’s peace.

And on behalf of everyone

Here at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls,

Please know of our prayers for you, our viewing community,

Please know of our prayers for you.

Peace be with you.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Lamb of God; ∫

∫ You take away the sins of the world, ∫

∫ Have mercy on us. ∫

∫ Lamb of God; ∫

∫ You take away the sins of the world, ∫

∫ Have mercy on us. ∫

∫ Lamb of God; ∫

∫ You take away the sins of the world, ∫

∫ Grant us peace. ∫

Behold the lamb of God.

Behold Jesus.

Behold him who takes away the sins of the world.

Blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb.

-Lord, i am not worthy,

You should enter under my roof,

But only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

May the body and blood of Christ

Keep us all safe for everlasting life.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

For those of you at home,

Please turn to page six in your tv mass guide

And join in singing our communion song,

‘Many and great.’

∫ Many and great are bearers of the word: ∫

∫ The Christ speaks; ∫

∫ The heart seeks ∫

∫ Gathered as one, ∫

∫ We listen to the word ∫

∫ And share the meal of new birth. ∫

∫ The wheat grows ∫

∫ From springtime to fall; ∫

∫ The wine flows; ∫

∫ In Christ we recall ∫

∫ The sharing of our lives ∫

∫ With one and all. ∫

Let us friends, gather together our prayers.

Let us pray.

Having been nourished by your holy banquet,

We beseech you lord Jesus Christ,

To bring those you have redeemed

By the wood of your life-giving cross

To the glory of the resurrection,

Who live and reign forever and ever.

-Amen.

Friends, please join with me in praying the prayer

For our boys and girls at Mercy Home.

It’s found in your mass book.

Let us pray this prayer together.

We pray:

Our lady of mercy, we pray that you will guide,

Protect and bless all boys and girls

Who this day have a home called mercy.

May they find the father’s mercy,

As we offer them our hearts

In the name of your son, Jesus Christ.

May they see God’s mercy in action

Through our love, prayers and sacrifices.

My sisters and brothers, the lord be with you.

-And with your spirit.

I’ll invite you to respond, ‘amen’

To each of these prayers as we pray together.

May God, the lord of heaven and earth,

Who has gathered you today for this celebration,

Make you abound in heavenly blessings.

-Amen.

May he who has willed that all his scattered children

Should be gathered together in his son,

Grant that you may become his temple

And a dwelling place of the holy spirit.

-Amen.

And so when you are thoroughly cleansed,

May God dwell within you

And grant you to possess with all the saints,

The inheritance of eternal happiness.

-Amen.

May the blessing of almighty God;

The father and the son and the holy spirit

Come down upon you and remain with you forever.

-Amen.

Friends, our beautiful mass

And the celebration of the exaltation of the cross,

Our beautiful mass has ended.

Let us go in peace.

-Thanks be to God.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Lift high the cross, ∫

∫ The love of Christ proclaim ∫

∫ Till all the world adore ∫

∫ His sacred name. ∫

∫ Come, Christians, follow ∫

∫ Where our savior trod, ∫

∫ Our king victorious, ∫

∫ Christ, the son of God. ∫

∫ Lift high the cross, ∫

∫ The love of Christ proclaim.. .∫

Through him and with him and in him;

O God, almighty father,

In the unity of the holy spirit,

All glory and honor is yours forever and ever.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Amen, amen, amen. ∫

At the savior’s command and formed by divine teaching,

We have the courage to pray together:

Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Leave us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Deliver us, lord, we pray, from every evil.

Graciously grant peace in our days,

That by the help of your mercy,

We may be always free from sin

And safe from all distress.

As we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior,

Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours

Now and forever.

Lord Jesus, who said to your apostles,

“Peace i leave you, my peace i give you.”

Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church,

And graciously grant her peace and unity

In accordance with your will,

Who live and reign forever and ever.

-Amen.

The peace of the lord be with you always.

-And with your spirit.

Let us offer each other a sign of Christ’s peace.

And on behalf of everyone

Here at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls,

Please know of our prayers for you, our viewing community,

Please know of our prayers for you.

Peace be with you.

Behold Jesus.

Behold him who takes away the sins of the world.

Blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb.

-Lord, i am not worthy,

You should enter under my roof,

But only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

May the body and blood of Christ

Keep us all safe for everlasting life.

For those of you at home,

Please turn to page six in your tv mass guide

And join in singing our communion song,

‘Many and great.’

∫ Many and great are bearers of the word: ∫

∫ The Christ speaks; ∫

∫ The heart seeks ∫

∫ Gathered as one, ∫

∫ We listen to the word ∫

∫ And share the meal of new birth. ∫

∫ The wheat grows ∫

∫ From springtime to fall; ∫

∫ The wine flows; ∫

∫ In Christ we recall ∫

∫ The sharing of our lives ∫

∫ With one and all. ∫

Let us friends, gather together our prayers.

Let us pray.

Having been nourished by your holy banquet,

We beseech you lord Jesus Christ,

To bring those you have redeemed

By the wood of your life-giving cross

To the glory of the resurrection,

Who live and reign forever and ever.

-Amen.

Friends, please join with me in praying the prayer

For our boys and girls at Mercy Home.

It’s found in your mass book.

Let us pray this prayer together.

We pray:

Our lady of mercy, we pray that you will guide,

Protect and bless all boys and girls

Who this day have a home called mercy.

May they find the father’s mercy,

As we offer them our hearts

In the name of your son, Jesus Christ.

May they see God’s mercy in action

Through our love, prayers and sacrifices.

My sisters and brothers, the lord be with you.

-And with your spirit.

I’ll invite you to respond, ‘amen’

To each of these prayers as we pray together.

May God, the lord of heaven and earth,

Who has gathered you today for this celebration,

Make you abound in heavenly blessings.

-Amen.

May he who has willed that all his scattered children

Should be gathered together in his son,

Grant that you may become his temple

And a dwelling place of the holy spirit.

-Amen.

And so when you are thoroughly cleansed,

May God dwell within you

And grant you to possess with all the saints,

The inheritance of eternal happiness.

-Amen.

May the blessing of almighty God;

The father and the son and the holy spirit

Come down upon you and remain with you forever.

-Amen.

The following presentation is made possible

By the generosity of the viewers

Of Sunday Mass at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago.

Good morning and welcome

To Sunday Mass at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.

Today we celebrate the exultation of the holy cross.

My name is Dan Riley.

I’m joined by Tom McNamara and Matt Beran,

And our celebrant is Father Jason Malave.

∫ Jesus is lord of all the earth. ∫

∫ He is the king of creation. ∫

∫ Hallelujah, hallelujah, ∫

∫ Give thanks to the risen lord. ∫

∫ Hallelujah, hallelujah, ∫

∫ Give praise to his name. ∫

Friends, sisters and brothers, we mark our prayer together;

“Which will be poured out for you and for many

“For the forgiveness of sins.

“Do this.

“Do this in memory of me.”

The mystery of faith.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ When we eat this bread and drink this cup, ∫

∫ We proclaim your death, o lord, ∫

∫ Until you come again. ∫

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial

Of Jesus’ death and resurrection,

We offer you, lord, the bread of life

And the chalice of salvation,

Giving thanks that you’ve held us worthy

To be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly, we pray that partaking

Of the body and blood of Christ Jesus,

We may be gathered into one by the holy spirit.

Remember, lord, your church spread throughout the world.

Bring her to the fullness of charity

Together with our pope,

Blas…, our archbishop, and all the clergy.

Remember especially our sisters and brothers

Who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection

And all who have died in your mercy,

Welcome them into the light of your face.

Finally, have mercy on us all, we pray.

That with the blessed Virgin Mary,

Mother of God, our lady of mercy,

With the blessed apostles and all the saints

Who have pleased you throughout the ages,

We may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life

And may praise and glorify you

Through your son, Jesus Christ.

Through him and with him and in him;

O God, almighty father,

In the unity of the holy spirit,

All glory and honor is yours forever and ever.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

∫ Amen, amen, amen. ∫

At the savior’s command and formed by divine teaching,

We have the courage to pray together:

Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Leave us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Deliver us, lord, we pray, from every evil.

Graciously grant peace in our days,

That by the help of your mercy,

We may be always free from sin

And safe from all distress.

As we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior,

Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours

Now and forever.

Lord Jesus, who said to your apostles,

“Peace i leave you, my peace i give you.”

Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church,

And graciously grant her peace and unity

In accordance with your will,

Who live and reign forever and ever.

-Amen.

The peace of the lord be with you always.

-And with your spirit.

Let us offer each other a sign of Christ’s peace.

And on behalf of everyone

Here at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls,

Please know of our prayers for you, our viewing community,

Please know of our prayers for you.

Peace be with you.

∫ Lamb of God; ∫

∫ You take away the sins of the world, ∫

∫ Have mercy on us. ∫

∫ Lamb of God; ∫

∫ You take away the sins of the world, ∫

∫ Have mercy on us. ∫

∫ Lamb of God; ∫

∫ You take away the sins of the world, ∫

∫ Grant us peace. ∫

Behold the lamb of God.

Behold Jesus.

Behold him who takes away the sins of the world.

Blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb.

-Lord, i am not worthy,

You should enter under my roof,

But only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

May the body and blood of Christ

Keep us all safe for everlasting life.

∫ (Piano music) ∫

For those of you at home,

Please turn to page six in your tv mass guide

And join in singing our communion song,

‘Many and great.’

∫ Many and great are bearers of the word: ∫

∫ The Christ speaks; ∫

∫ The heart seeks ∫

∫ Gathered as one, ∫

∫ We listen to the word ∫

∫ And share the meal of new birth. ∫

∫ The wheat grows ∫

∫ From springtime to fall; ∫

∫ The wine flows; ∫

∫ In Christ we recall ∫

∫ The sharing of our lives ∫

∫ With one and all. ∫

Let us friends, gather together our prayers.

Let us pray.

Having been nourished by your holy banquet,

We beseech you lord Jesus Christ,

To bring those you have redeemed

By the wood of your life-giving cross

To the glory of the resurrection,

Who live and reign forever and ever.

-Amen.

Friends, please join with me in praying the prayer

For our boys and girls at Mercy Home.

It’s found in your mass book.

Let us pray this prayer together.

We pray:

Our lady of mercy, we pray that you will guide,

Protect and bless all boys and girls

Who this day have a home called mercy.

May they find the father’s mercy,

As we offer them our hearts

In the name of your son, Jesus Christ.

May they see God’s mercy in action

Through our love, prayers and sacrifices.

My sisters and brothers, the lord be with you.

-And with your spirit.

I’ll invite you to respond, ‘amen’

To each of these prayers as we pray together.

May God, the lord of heaven and earth,

Who has gathered you today for this celebration,

Make you abound in heavenly blessings.

-Amen.

May he who has willed that all his scattered children

Should be gathered together in his son,

Grant that you may become his temple

And a dwelling place of the holy spirit.

-Amen.

And so when you are thoroughly cleansed,

May God dwell within you

And grant you to possess with all the saints,

The inheritance of eternal happiness.

-Amen.

May the blessing of almighty God;

The father and the son and the holy spirit

Come down upon you and remain with you forever.

-Amen.

∫ Lift high the cross, ∫

∫ The love of Christ proclaim ∫

∫ Till all the world adore ∫

∫ His sacred name. ∫

∫ Come, Christians, follow ∫

∫ Where our savior trod, ∫

∫ Our king victorious, ∫

∫ Christ, the son of God. ∫

∫ Lift high the cross, ∫

∫ The love of Christ proclaim.. .∫

Hello, my friends, as you know, as i know,

This tv ministry at Mercy Home is so important.

It allows us to gather wherever you may be

To participate in the prayer of the church.

It allows us to pray for one another

And how important it is.

It allows you and me to pray for the children here

At Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.

We’re nourished by our presence together

And by the celebration of the eucharist.

I just want to take this opportunity

To thank you so very much

For the ways in which you support this mass here

At Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.

Please consider doing that going forward as well.

May God bless you and your family and your friends

Homily Video

The Exaltation of the Holy Cross Homily Transcript

Amen.
