Mercy Home recently welcomed some good friends of ours from the Dawn Brancheau Foundation. They joined us for the eighth year in a row to help our young ladies plant their garden for the summer growing season!
They teamed up with our girls to pull weeds, turn the soil, lay fresh mulch, and plant and label the seeds. Each of the homes were given their own plot to grow a number of different vegetables, which, when they ripen, will be used to feed our kids and coworkers!
In addition to taking care of the garden, our young women spent the morning painting rocks for their garden boxes, as well as individual rocks for the rock garden. They had a great time expressing their creativity!
“What I liked about the event is that we could be ourselves as we painted,” one of our young women said.
Our girls really enjoyed the morning and are already anxiously awaiting the moment when their veggies begin to sprout.
Thank you to the Dawn Brancheau Foundation for their continued support of the Home and for helping our girls grow another beautiful garden.
