The Gift You Give

Dear Friends,

This year, I am celebrating 20 years as the president of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. While there are many emotions surrounding this milestone, the thing I feel most is immense gratitude.

I have spent 36 years of my life and career at Mercy Home. Many things have evolved and changed during my time here. The level of support that we provide to our young people and their families has continued to improve, which is something I am incredibly proud of.

However, the incredible work being done at Mercy Home every day is something that is only possible because of God’s grace and the support of loving friends like you. That is why I feel so much gratitude each day.

Thanks to your kindness, our boys and girls have a safe place to call home, three warm meals a day, access to a good education, tutors and other academic support, career guidance, therapy to help them heal from past trauma, and all the tools they need to build brighter futures.

It’s hard to put into words what this means for the young people entrusted to our care. They come to our doors discouraged, often feeling alone and hopeless. Mercy Home is a beacon of light to children who need it most. It’s impossible to overstate the difference you make for our kids every day.

One of my favorite sayings in scripture is “What has been given as gift, give as gift.” This is something that makes me think of the entire Mercy Home family, from our coworkers who work so diligently to support our young people to friends who give so generously to make the work we do possible. You have all used the gifts given to you to make miracles happen in the life of a child. I can’t imagine anything better.

When I look to the future of Mercy Home, I am filled with both hope and optimism. I can only imagine the work that will be done, the lives that will be changed, and the stories that we will continue to share with you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting the young people of Mercy Home. I cannot tell you how much joy it brings me to know that there are loving friends like you who believe in our boys and girls as much as we do.
