“Noshing with Nyah” Holiday Treats: Baked Mac & Cheese

‘Tis the season for a cheesy treat for the kids at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. Nyah invited a guest chef to partake in the holiday cooking festivities!

In this 2-part series of “Noshing with Nyah,” co-worker Nyah and Mercy Home resident Willie, create holiday treats perfect for eating while sitting by a fire and shouting “Happy New Year!” In this second video, they make Baked Macaroni & Cheese. It’s a cheesy delight that you won’t want to stop eating!

Baked Macaroni & Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs macaroni noodles
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 quart of Half and Half
  • 2 tbsp salt and pepper
  • 6 tbsp cream cheese
  • 3 tbsp butter

Directions:

Boil noodles until al dente. After it boils, season with Lawry and black pepper with a little oil.

In a separate bowl mix shredded cheeses.

In another bowl, crack 6 eggs and combine with half and half. Season with salt, pepper and a dash or two of nutmeg.

Slice cream cheese and butter into equal parts, then start to assemble casserole spray pan. Line the bottom with some shredded cheese and 2 pieces of cream cheese and one piece of butter. Then cover with some noodles.

Continue this pattern until you use all the noodles.

Once the casserole is assembled, pour the egg and half and half mixture on top.

Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

After that, take the casserole out of the oven and uncover the macaroni. Stir in more cheese.

Then cover the top with remaining shredded cheese and back at 350°F for another 15-20 minutes or until cheese is golden brown.

Allow to cool before serving and enjoy!
