Thanks to the generosity of our friends at NBA Cares, Mercy Home’s boys and girls, AfterCare members, and Friends First mentors and mentees were able to enjoy the festivities of the NBA All-Star weekend on Saturday, February 15. NBA Cares donated 30 tickets to Mercy Home.
There were three events held on Saturday: the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, the MTN DEW 3-Point Contest, and the AT&T Slam Dunk contest.
After enjoying the athletic events, some of our kids stayed after to see some of the celebrities there for the game and met Chadwick Boseman from Black Panther. Our kids even got to get some autographs! According to one attendee, the seats were so close that they didn’t even need to look at the monitors.
All of our kids (and the coworkers accompanying them) had a wonderful time and were so in awe of the experience. We are truly thankful to our friends at NBA Cares for making this fun, once-in-a-lifetime outing possible!
